Frequently Asked Questions
Does comprehensive insurance cover windshield replacement in Arizona?
Comprehensive auto insurance commonly covers windshield damage caused by rocks, road debris, weather, vandalism, and other non-collision events. Your deductible and available glass coverage depend on your individual policy. Some Arizona policies include full glass coverage with no deductible, while others apply a comprehensive deductible.
Can I choose my own auto glass company?
Yes. Under Arizona Revised Statute § 20-469, you generally have the right to choose your preferred auto glass repair facility unless your insurance contract specifies otherwise.
If your insurance company recommends a particular glass company, it must inform you of this right. A.R.S. § 20-469.01 also requires third-party glass claims administrators to disclose your right to choose when recommending a facility.
You may request 1st Shot Auto Glass as your preferred installer, even if another provider is recommended. Coverage, authorization, glass options, and payment remain subject to your policy and claim approval.
Is ADAS calibration typically included with an insured windshield replacement?
Typically, yes. When ADAS calibration is required after an approved windshield replacement, it is generally included as part of the glass claim. Coverage remains subject to the individual policy and claim approval.
1st Shot Auto Glass coordinates windshield replacement and required camera calibration, with both services typically completed at your home or workplace.
Do I need to visit a shop?
Usually, no. 1st Shot Auto Glass coordinates mobile windshield replacement and required ADAS calibration at your home, workplace, or another suitable location.
Most customers never need to bring their vehicle to a shop. Occasionally, a vehicle’s calibration requirements or a customer’s schedule may call for different arrangements. We’ll discuss any special requirements before scheduling.
Can you help with the insurance claim process?
Yes. 1st Shot Auto Glass can guide you through the auto glass insurance claim process and help request and confirm that 1st Shot Auto Glass is assigned to your claim for your windshield, side window, back glass, or other covered auto glass replacement.
We begin by gathering the policyholder’s name, telephone number, address associated with the policy, vehicle identification number (VIN), and insurance policy number.
We then place a three-way call with the insurance company or glass claims administrator. The policyholder must participate because the insurance company needs to verify the claim and receive authorization directly from the insured. We remain on the call to provide the necessary glass information and request that 1st Shot Auto Glass be assigned to the job.
Once the call is completed, the claim may be ready for scheduling or the insurance company may require a photo inspection.
Will I need to complete a photo inspection?
It depends on the insurance company and the individual claim. Some claims can be scheduled immediately after the authorization call, while others require the policyholder to complete a guided photo inspection through a secure link sent by text message.
When an inspection is required, the guided process typically asks for four photographs:
- A photo of the front of the vehicle
- A photo of the DOT and manufacturer marking in a lower corner of the windshield
- A photo of the rear of the vehicle showing the license plate
- A close-up photo of the damage with the policyholder holding a quarter beside it for size reference
During the guided process, the policyholder will also be asked to select the location of the windshield damage on the screen.
The inspection link and exact instructions may vary. After the required photos are submitted and the claim is cleared for service, 1st Shot Auto Glass can confirm the correct windshield and schedule the replacement.
Why might Safelite Solutions be involved in my insurance claim?
Safelite Solutions serves as a third-party glass claim administrator for many insurance companies. Its involvement does not necessarily require you to use Safelite AutoGlass for the replacement. You can request that 1st Shot Auto Glass be assigned as your preferred auto glass company, subject to policy and claim approval.
